CERFP exercise Roughly 200 Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen spent September 17-20 training at the North Metro Fire Training Center in Thornton, Colo., in preparation for a National Guard Bureau evaluation, or ExEval. The unit is called a CERFP team which stands for C=CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosives) Enhanced Response Force Package and must be evaluated every couple of years by NGB to ensure that they are meeting standards and are prepared to support incidents within Colorado or anywhere within the U.S. The Colorado teams are comprised of members from the 140th Wing from Buckley AFB, the 233d Space Group from Greeley, the 147th Brigade Battalion from Ft. Collins and the 3650th Maintenance Company from Longmont. Each team provides the necessary functionality to assist local authorities in extraction, communication, decontamination and medical assistance so that victims can be safely removed from a disaster and cared for appropriately.(U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Master Sgt. Chip Hahn, Colorado National Guard | Feb. 20, 2020 The sport of biathlon demands physical fitness, shooting ability, mental toughness, and resilience. It combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting into a mentally demanding endurance sport over varying distances on a closed course. The object is to ski the course in the shortest time while hitting the most number of targets. If an athlete misses a target, a penalty lap of 150 meters is added to the athlete’s skiing distance which must be completed before the athlete can return to the race course.
